About Tori

Vyctorya “Tori” Sandoval was a beautiful, bright and perfect little 2 year-old girl who died tragically on Easter Sunday morning, April 24, 2011. She had lived with a loving foster family for 8 months that were certified to adopt her should reunification fail with her bio parents.  On September 1, 2010, Tori (at 18 months old) was taken from the Sedgewick home and placed back with her biological mother and father.  Her foster parents, friends and even some family members begged DCFS social workers, supervisors,  and lawyers for months to try and get them to re-examine Tori’s case, but to no avail.  Tragically, on Easter morning, Vyctorya Sandoval was pronounced dead at 3:30 am at Loma Linda Hospital. Authorities had tried to revive her since the previous evening at 9:15 pm when she was found in Pomona with no heartbeat. Autopsy reports are pending, as is the investigation into the causes of her death.

  2. I am so sorry for the tragic loss of such a beautiful little girl. My thoughts and prayer for her foster family and friends. Sigh. How do we make such a corupt system accountable…..makes me sad and frustrated. these innocent angels taken by the very people who were supposed to protect them.

  3. My heart and prayers go out to you little Tori and to all the people that Love you. You are safe now little princess. You are now with the Lord Laughing and Smiling and bringing Joy and Laughter to everyone in heaven. God Bless!

  4. I am so very sad to read this. Reunify is not always best. As it was tragic in this case. A sweet little girl lost her life. The warning signs were there. The system failed this child. She had a family that loved her and she was ripped from that loving home. Lets be Tori’s voice and fight for other children so they have a chance in life.

  5. I pray every night for all those children that are abused and not loved, I too took care of a child who’s mother just had her 11th child, but I know how frustrating the stupid courts could be when they don’t see the whole story and give back the children to these mothers and fathers that don’t deserve to even breath, let alone given back precious gifts that God gave us called children, My prayers are with you and I know you know lil Tori is in Gods loving presence. May He give you the strength to go on and give your love to other child that really need you. Take care and God bless!

  6. So sorry. This story is so similar to mine. I have raised my niece Alexis from 8 months to 23 months. Alexis was removed from parents due to neglect, domestic violence, and drug use by both parents. DCFS placed her with me because I am raising her two older brother. I have legal guardianship of them through probate court. The father has been incarcerated this whole time and just recently got released from prison. The mother had been kicked out of 2 rehabs this year alone and the judge still ordered her reunified less than a month ago. She has a new 4 month old daughter. The social worker had told her that he works for the system but against it. Hs only goal is reunification no matter if it is safe for Alexis. I am broken because I constantly worry about my beauty. My sister had asked me to adopt all three kids last yer because she wasn’t meant to be a mother but she changed her mind a few months later due to her 4th pregnancy. Don’t know what to do now.

  7. Such a heartbreaking story. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray Gods continued comfort and strenght during this time. I think it’s wonderful what you have done for Tori both in her life and death. Please know I stand behind you 150% and would love to be a part of Tori’s Torch in being her voice in any way I can.

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 (NKJV)

  8. I recently posted the newspaper article about the parents arrest on Unforgotten angels page on facebook. Malysa referred me to this site. I’m so sorry for your loss! You can truly tell that you loved this child by all the photos & comments & articles posted! Tori was a beautiful child! I just wanted to say that thank you! In this childs short lifetime, she may never have known what love was, or even experienced it if it hadn’t been for you! She’s in heaven now & gets to experience unconditional love every day with no beatings, no more tears & no more sadness. Tori you were so loved by this family! Please be their guardian angel now & watch over them so they may feel your presence & love every day! God bless you for what you do! There are so many bad foster families, & it gives me peace & joy knowing there truly are some good ones too! May Tori’s life live on in what you are doing in her memory! God bless you!

  9. many years ago my daughter was in hospital and there was a little boy that was just being released, the nursing staff was devastated because a judge had just given the order for him to be given back to his parents after full well knowing it was his father that had put him in the hospital in the first place, the staff had said that the next time he would be admitted would be for the last time, he would not make it through his injuries, shame on the system and the people who think that abusive parents can change, Tori’s story breaks my heart, ……..

  10. It breaks my heart that this beautiful little girl was torn was a family who loved her so much and tok the best care she had ever had! god bless you guys! my heart goes out to you! RIP sweet baby Tori. I hate that the system failed her and you guys have to live with it. where is the justice? That baby girl will never get to grow up because of her selfish lazy ass mother! xo
